Around the World with Althaea Skin

Celebrity dermatologist and Althaea Skin’s founder, our own Dr. Ava Shamban, is an avid traveler. To date, she’s been to 67 countries (you’re reading that right, sixty-seven). both professionally and personally. In fact, earlier in this summer she embarked on a 7-day hiking trip in the Swiss Alps where she joined nine other dermatologists to raise awareness and funds for skin cancer research and screenings. And Althaea Skin products, including her trusty C.A.R.A. device, went right along there with her.

Getting ready

“If I’m traveling where there are more than three hours of time difference, I try to get a jump on jet lag by slightly adjusting my sleep schedule a few days in advance. When packing, I put my C.A.R.A. device, Althaea Skin Night Serum and Activation Mask in my handbag.”

While flying

Dr. Shamban tries to sleep on the plane if at all possible. She finds oral melatonin spray to be very helpful.

As for her skin, she says, “The air on airplanes is extremely dry which is terrible for the whole body and particularly bad for the skin. Every other hour, I use my trusty C.A.R.A. tool on the Clarify (blue light) setting according to directions (a layer of Night Serum plus a layer of Activator Mask. ). Depending on how I feel, I either do the full 10-minutes or a 3-minute Quick Fix setting. Afterwards, I leave the mask on to absorb into my skin and further hydrate.”

You’ll also want to bring along some rich hand cream with you and reapply every other hour if you can too. And don’t forget to drink plenty of water.

Upon arrival

Different people react differently to jet lag which is a literal manifestation of circadian rhythm disconnect.

Dr. Shamban gets over hers:

• do your Althaea Skin care ritual to match the time of your new location

• make sure every light or device is off or invisible at night. A tablet of sticky notes is a handy little hack to this

• do not touch any surfaces to avoid picking up any microbes

Bon voyage!
